Michael Kaplan, LCSW
Counseling in Columbia, MO
I offer counseling to adults of all ages, teens, and children ages 10 and up. I have extensive experience in working with college students, having worked part-time at the University of Missouri Counseling Center for more than eight years. While I usually meet with clients one-on-one, occasionally a partner or family member might sit in if appropriate.
Some of the problems that I can help address include depression, anxiety, worry, panic attacks, anger, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), bipolar disorder, relationship issues, loss, existential concerns, issues of aging, and LGBTQ concerns. Problems in children might include anxiety, depression, and behavioral issues such as anger outbursts.
I typically meet with clients once a week for about an hour (45 minutes for children and adolescents), but this can be tailored to your needs. If you are the parent or guardian of a child-aged client, I will want to meet with you occasionally as well. This will give you the opportunity to have input on your child’s counseling.
I do not provide couples/marriage counseling, family counseling, addictions counseling, or anger management classes for those in need of a certificate. If one or more of these services is needed, I can provide referrals to other professionals.
